Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum

We offer visitors the opportunity to experience the underground world of a real ironstone mine and to explore the skills, customs and life of the Cleveland miner. It was those miners that helped to make Cleveland the most important ironstone mining district in Victorian and Edwardian Britain.

Middlesborough Environment City

The web site of Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC). They are a locally based charity – one of only four environment cities in England. The aim of Environment Cities is to demonstrate ways of managing cities and large towns in more sustainable ways – promoting the environment alongside economic regeneration and social needs.

North East Geological Society

The aims of the N.E.G.S. are to broaden the knowledge and interests of its members in any of the aspects of geology – rocks, minerals, fossils and conservation. The N.E.G.S. is affiliated to the Geologists’ Association, therefore members may attend meetings of other societies affiliated to the G.A.

North Sea Project

Twelve Wildlife Trusts, located across the East coast of England aim to make the concept of ‘Living Seas’ a reality though a project which will promote protection of the North Sea’s weird and wonderful marine wildlife, from the smallest plankton to the largest whales.

The Tees Valley Biodiversity Partnership is a partnership of local organisations and people working together to benefit our wildlife. The Wildlife Trusts

By the 1960s, in response to the devastation of our natural habitats, Wildlife Trusts had been formed across the length and breadth of the UK to save our natural heritage for future generations.
