Middlesbrough Council, the Environment Agency and the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust had a 3-year Boro Becks Project with funding from the Big Lottery as part of the Access to Nature grants programme administered by Natural England.
The Boro Becks project was all about getting people involved in the becks through events and activities, training, practical task days and environmental and access improvements. People were informed through newsletters, websites, leaflets and Facebook.
The four becks covered by the project were Marton West Beck, Middle Beck, Ormesby Beck and Spencerbeck.
Boro Becks is now run by a group of volunteers and they are looking for new volunteers – both on the task days (usually Tuesdays and Thursdays) and with the administration of the group, Chairman, Secretary etc.
